Templenoe is situated in the ancient landscape of the Blackwater valley. The area, inhabited for circa 9,000 years, has an expanse of archaeological sites and is rich in ancient Celtic culture. Within the grounds of Templenoe there are the remains of a 2,000 year-old double-ringed fort.
